The Baen Free Library is offering it’s own solution to the problem of copyright theft – put up books for free. Showing the sort of common sense rarely seen on the web, the policy is that getting a book for free online is really no worse than having a book lent by the purchaser to a friend in terms of loss, and if the book is enjoyed, people are likely to buy it – it is preferable to read hard copy, after all. I do believe that they are quite right.
